The Weekender: May 27th – May 30th

With all the great things going on in the 901 these days, have you ever been overwhelmed with choices? Well, you’re in luck! We’ve put together a weekly post called The Weekender, filled with a handy schedule to help you hit some of our best bets for an amazing weekend. You can follow this schedule to a T, or use it as a launching point to plan your own adventure! The Weekender is not meant to be exhaustive, but will include our suggestions to help you plan the weekend ahead. 


Friday, May 27th

  • 11:30am – Start the weekend early with Food Truck Fridays at the Dixon then check out Friends of the Library Spring Sale
  • 5pm – Take the family to the Children’s Theatre Festival or spend the weekend at a Community Organizing Skills Training
  • 6pm – See the TN Ballet Theater perform, the Memphis Camerata, stop by South Main Trolley Night, or see live music at Loflin Yard or Celtic Crossing,
  • 7:30 – Go on a haunted bus tour, learn swing dancing, or try to win a trip to Ireland
  • 9pm – Catch more live music at Otherlands, Lafayette’s, or Bar DKDC


Saturday, May 28th

  • 7am – Run in the inaugural Great American River Run (and get a free ticket into 901Fest)
  • 10am – Celebrate National Blacksmiths Day, take a Memphis Music tour at Elmwood, or take the kids to Tie Dye Day at The Art Project
  • 12pm – Then celebrate National Burger Day for lunch before taking the family to the Wacky Wonderland Kids Festival, Hattiloo’s Black Arts Festival, or the Children’s Theatre Festival
  • 3pm – Gates open for 901Fest! Stop by the Choose901 Popup Shop and enter to win a Memphis Staycation Extravaganza Package
  • 5:30pm – Can’t make it to 901Fest? Take the family to the inaugural Summer Symphony at the Garden or the final River Series at Harbor Town
  • 8pm – Enjoy an evening of comedy
  • 10pm – Experience Daisyland (free with 901Fest ticket)


Sunday, May 29th

  • 11:30am – Enjoy brunch and benefit a great cause at World Wine & Jazz
  • 2pm – Catch the final performance of Memphis the Musical
  • 6pm – Enjoy food, fashion, music, cigars and more at the Pink Palace
  • 7pm – Or spend the evening at the New Daisy with friends, music, drinks, and a cigar lounge
  • 8:30pm – Catch this album release party, or enjoy live music at Huey’s Midtown, or the HiTone
