The Father’s Day Weekender: June 17th – June 19th

With all the great things going on in the 901 these days, have you ever been overwhelmed with choices? Well, you’re in luck! We’ve put together a weekly post called The Weekender, filled with a handy schedule to help you hit some of our best bets for an amazing weekend. You can follow this schedule to a T, or use it as a launching point to plan your own adventure! The Weekender is not meant to be exhaustive, but will include our suggestions to help you plan the weekend ahead. 

 

Friday, June 17th

  • 11:30am – Start the weekend early with Food Truck Friday at the Dixon, Food Truck Friday at Fedex Forum, this block party, or the Juneteenth Urban Music Festival
  • 5pm – Stop by Meet Your Maker Happy Hour, benefit the Farmers Market at the Crop Hop 5K, the Boys & Girls Club at their Summer Party, or go to the first Fountain Friday food truck rally
  • 6pm – Celebrate Slim House’s Two Year Anniversary, enjoy live music at Celtic Crossing or Loflin Yard
  • 7pm – Check out the Voices of the South Midsouth Writers Lab Festival, benefit a great cause at the Big Wig Ball, have a Feast on the Farm, go to the Memphis City Meetup, go to this Orlando benefit event, or see Flow Tribe at the Levitt Shell
  • 8pm – Enjoy a night of comedy or take the family to see Wizard the Oz, The Musical at The Orpheum
  • 10pm – Go to a silent disco, catch live music at Lafayette’s

 

 

Saturday, June 18th

  • 8am – Start your day at the Memphis Farmers Market downtown
  • 9am – Talk tech at Memphis Goodie Ideation
  • 10am – Check out the 35th Annual Outdoors Inc Canoe and Kayak Race or the Soulsville Record Swap
  • 1pm – Stop by Doc’s Anniversary party
  • 3pm – Catch live music at Loflin Yard
  • 6pm – Go to the V3 Fights, the Redbirds game (get a free beach towel, Kolten Wong Hawaiian Print Jersey and enjoy fireworks afterwards), see Widespread Panic
  • 7pm – See Frazey Ford at the Levitt Shell
  • 9pm – Enjoy a night of comedy
  • 10pm – See Jack Oblivian at Lafayette’s
  • 11pm – Catch the Widespread Panic After Party at the New Daisy

 

 

Sunday, June 19th – Father’s Day

  • 10am – Celebrate Dad at Father’s Day Jazz Brunch at Owen Brennan’s
  • 12pm – Take dad to the Metal Museum or spend the day at Overton Square
  • 4pm – Take the kids to see Back to the Future III in 3D at the Pink Palace or catch live music at Loflin Yard
  • 6:05pm – Spend Father’s Day evening at the Redbirds game (special tix include a food buffet and time on the field)
  • 7:30pm – See New Ballet Ensemble at the Levitt Shell, Yo Gotti at Mud Island, or Artistik Lounge;s 4th Annual Anniversary Show
