With all the great things going on in the 901 these days, have you ever been overwhelmed with choices? Well, you’re in luck! We’ve put together a weekly post called The Weekender, filled with a handy schedule to help you hit some of our best bets for an amazing weekend.


You can follow this schedule to a T, or use it as a launching point to plan your own adventure! The Weekender is not meant to be exhaustive, but will include our suggestions to help you plan the weekend ahead. 


Saturday, February 11th

  • 9am – Learn Garden Basics at the Memphis Botanic Garden, start your day at the Cooper Young Farmer’s Market or get ready to walk the catwalk at Memphis Fashion Week Model Call
  • 10am – Make your voice heard at a Town Hall Meeting with Congressman Steve Cohen, learn about reproductive health and rights at a Sexual and Reproductive Health Training, get involved with Prison/Sentencing Reform Training or experience Slave Narratives “In Their Own Words” at Slave Haven
  • 10:30am – Take a Walking Tour of Elmwood Cemetary
  • 11am – Take a Turkish Cooking Class or learn the basics of weaving
  • 12pm – Shop local and get Vday gifts at 17 Berkshire x City & State Valentine’s Day Pop-Up, the Seasonal Crosstown Market, Small Biz Saturday Valentine’s Day Edition, or Love Daze Valentine’s Day Pop-Up then stop by Scoops Parlor’s 1-Year Celebration and the grand opening of Two Rivers Bookstore
  • 1pm – Find a new furry friend with Memphis Pets Alive,  the Humane Society, or River Dog Inn
  • 1:30pm – Stop by a Benefit and Silent Auction for Blues Legend Cash McCall or the Febtoberfest Fill Your Stein Party at Wiseacre
  • 2pm – See the Internet Cat Video Festival, go to the Love Bizarre Poetry Slam, stop by a Wine and Chocolate Tasting, see Blueprints to Freedom at Hattiloo Theatre, or take a Chocolate Casting workshop at Five in One
  • 4pm – Have a date night at Shelby Farms Park
  • 5pm – Check out art and poetry at Crosstown Arts
  • 6pm – Catch Me & Leah at Ghost River, go to the annual Staxtacular to benefit Stax Museum, laugh at love at The Break-Up Show 6, or see Summer Avenue with Epps Live at Loflin Yard
  • 8pm – Have a date night at HM Love Jones Lounge, Esplanade, Rockhouse Live, catch music at Otherlands, see Sense and Sensibility at Theatre Memphis or see Wiseguys improv at Cafe Eclectic
  • 10:30pm – Catch music by John Paul Keith at BAR DKDC


Sunday, February 12th

  • 12pm – Have a Galentines Brunch, play Galentine’s Trivia, or shop local at the Metal Museum
  • 2pm – Drink Up Ghost River at a Fundraiser for the Johnny Cash Statue or see Sense and Sensibility at Theatre Memphis
  • 4pm – Go to the Old Forest Jamboree or play Bingo at Loflin Yard
  • 6:30pm – See the last show of The Illusionists at The Orpheum
  • 7pm – Have a date night at All Things Chocolate IV, An Intimate Valentine’s Day Event
  • 8pm – Watch the Walking Dead season premiere at Midtown Crossing Grill or catch live music at Huey’s
