The Weekender: February 3 – February 5

With all the great things going on in the 901 these days, have you ever been overwhelmed with choices? Well, you’re in luck! We’ve put together a weekly post called The Weekender, filled with a handy schedule to help you hit some of our best bets for an amazing weekend.

 

You can follow this schedule to a T, or use it as a launching point to plan your own adventure! The Weekender is not meant to be exhaustive, but will include our suggestions to help you plan the weekend ahead. 

 

 

Saturday, February 4th

  • 8am – Audition for America’s Got Talent
  • 9:30 – Enjoy a brass concert at GPAC
  • 10am – Benefit a great cause at the Bluff City Fire & Ice Polar Bear Plunge & Chili Cook-off or take the kids to Family Studio at the Dixon
  • 12pm – Go to the International Blues Challenge Finals, shop local at Ghost River, get a Valentine’s gift at Crosstown Arts, or go to the Social Justice Fair and Panel Discussion
  • 4pm – See The Black Experience at Orange Mound Gallery, Women’s March Protest Sign Exhibition or take the family to see Lord of the Rings in 2D at the Pink Palace
  • 5pm – Go to the 13TH, Screening and Panel Discussion or The Forum: Family Friendly Open Mic
  • 6pm – Go to the Memphis Premiere: Marvin Booker Was Murdered or see Tim & Jeff from Snowglobe
  • 7pm – Have a movie night at Time Warp Drive-In: BILL & TED’S INSANE ODYSSEY, go to IRIS: A River Runs Through It, see Mindi Abair and the Boneshakers or Blueprints to Freedom: An Ode to Bayard Rustin at Hattiloo
  • 10:30pm – See Jack Oblivian at BAR DKDC

 

Sunday, February 5th

  • 12pm – Enjoy brunch and live music at (kid-friendly) Ghost River, Lafayette’s, or Bosco’s
  • 3pm – See Blueprints to Freedom: An Ode to Bayard Rustin at Hattiloo
  • 4pm – Take the family to see Lord of the Rings in 2D at the Pink Palace
  • 5pm – Join the Super Bowl party at Huey’s, Loflin Yard, Ghost River’s taproom, Celtic Crossing, Growlers, the Rec Room, or host your own
