Schweinehaus has new menu, keeps name

No need to change the name as the formerly German Schweinehaus in Overton Square has changed to a barbecue restaurant. After all, it already means "pig house," says chef/owner David Scott Walker.

Schweinehaus opened in 2014 in the former Paulette's space at 2110 Madison, offering communal seating in a German beer hall atmosphere. Shortly after opening Walker began adding daily specials that often had nothing to do with German food to the menu, and frequently fired up the grills at night.

He says that people want barbecue back in Overton Square and he's happy to oblige. He'll keep the burger, the BLT made from house-smoked bacon and add brisket, pulled pork, ribs, barbecue chicken and turkey.

Schweinehaus is open Monday through Thursday, 3 p.m.-1 a.m., Friday 11 a.m.-2 a.m., and serves brunch on Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m.-3 p.m. as well as dinner 3 p.m.-1 a.m. Call 901-347-3060 for more information.
