Volunteer Memphis set to hold SCS Day of Service, looking for volunteers

Volunteer Memphis is hoping the Memphis community will answer the call to volunteer their time to help spruce up several Shelby County elementary schools.

The Shelby County Schools Day of Service is set for Saturday, July 22, when volunteers will paint, plant flowers, and do other areas of work at elementary schools in each of Memphis' nine districts, between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Volunteer Memphis and SCS will be joined by volunteers from Clean Memphis, Memphis City Beautiful, Junior League of Memphis, Mass Mutual, Regions Bank and other corporations/organizations to give the schools a face lift before students walk through the doors on the first day of class.

No supplies are necessary and refreshments will be provided.
