The expansion, which is set to be completed in February, will allow Lafayette's to move its stage to the spot where the original Lafayette's stage was located. A new green room and an additional 60-80 seats are also part of the project.
A smaller portion of the former The Attic space will be converted into a new concept, Midtown Mercantile, which will be a boutique focused on Midtown products. It will be operated by Lafayette's.
The Attic closed Dec. 31, as owner Alexandra Scharff wished to focus more on her other Overton Square concept, The Ivory Closet, said Ciara Neill, spokeswoman for Loeb Properties.
Lafayette's will remain open while the expansion takes place.
