Chef Felicia Willett wants to stay behind the scenes when it comes to your Thanksgiving meal. “I started cooking for several friends’ Thanksgiving dinners several years back. My one stipulation was that they take all the credit. If they let anyone know it’s my food, then they did not get to order for the next year,” she explains with a grin. She has the same wish for her current customers. You can even drop off your serving dishes, and she will bake the pies and bread pudding in them. Sounds like a win-win for all! Felicia has all the classic Southern sides from Creole oyster dressing to her famous cooked greens, but her personal favorites are the sausage-and-cornbread dressing and the giblet pan gravy. “We season turkeys for people too. We call it ‘Get to Know Your Turkey!’ We season them mild or spicy, which is a turkey stuffed with Flo’s pickled jalapeños.”

Muddy’s Bake Shop will have all of their popular cupcakes, full-size cakes, cookies and bars available to order, as well as their full line of pies. The “Cocoa Chanel” chocolate chess pie is one we can’t resist, but, during the holidays, their pecan pie is the most ordered dessert. “Every year our ‘Shady Wake’ pecan pie is the hands-down most popular item,” says Kat Gordon of Muddy’s Bake Shop. Loaded with toasted pecans, it really is a pecan pie like no other. We recommend serving it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or Muddy’s Boozy Whipped Cream (recipe below)!

Thanksgiving Bonus Recipe
Kat Gordon of Muddy’s Bake Shop wanted to share with us the perfect topper for a slice o’ pie! Enjoy!
Muddy's Boozy Whipped Cream
Author: Kat Gordon of Muddy's Bake Shop
Recipe type: Dessert
Cook time: 10 mins
Total time: 10 mins
1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla (use pure, not imitation)
1 teaspoon bourbon
Combine in a bowl and beat, using a mixer or whisk, vigorously for several minutes until soft peaks form.
Spoon a dollop onto your dessert of choice!
Pro tip: Use a glass or metal bowl and wipe down with a paper towel sprinkled with lemon juice or vinegar to remove any oily residue. Any residue will deflate your whipped cream.
Have a happy Thanksgiving full of great eats and even better company!
