Wine, Liquor Sales Now Allowed on Independence Day

The neon "open" sign outside Kirby Wines and Liquors in Memphis had many people like Travis Cleaves doing a double-take.

"I was picking up some last-minute items over at the grocery store and drove through the parking lot and noticed the open sign, and so I decided to come in and pick up one more item or two," Cleaves said.

The same law that now allows wine and liquor sales on Sunday (grocery stores must wait until Jan. 6, 2019  to start selling wine) also permits alcohol sales on holidays like the Fourth of July.
