Jazz and big band fans will have the chance to enjoy the Memphis Jazz Orchestra this week. The 26-year old group — which has backed jazz greats from Ray Charles to Herb Ellis — will swing at Overton Square’s Lafayette’s Music Room. The evening concert starts at 6 p.m. For more information, go to lafayettes.com/memphis

True Believers, take note: In recognition of the first decade of the "Marvel Cinematic Universe," all 20 movies in the comic book-inspired superhero saga will screen over eight days in the IMAX auditorium at the Malco Paradiso. Billed as the "Marvel Studios 10th Anniversary Film Festival," the event launches Thursday with the first four films in the series, "Iron Man" (1 p.m.), "The Incredible Hulk" (3:40 p.m.), "Iron Man 2" (7 p.m.) and "Thor" (9:35 p.m.), all making their Memphis IMAX debuts (as are most of the movies in the series). The festival ends Sept. 6.
