The Container Store sets opening date for Germantown location; here's what to expect

Mid-South neat freaks rejoice: The Container Store will soon open a Memphis-area location.

The Texas-based retailer, which sells storage and organization products, will open its second Tennessee location in Germantown in September. The 19,300-square-foot store on Exeter Road — next to the beloved Trader Joe's — is scheduled to open Sept. 14, according to the company.

Opening weekend will be filled with freebies for fans of the brand, as well as an opportunity for customers to support Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. According to The Container Store, 10% of all sales during the Germantown location's grand opening will go to the hospital.

Le Bonheur president Michael Wiggins thanked the company in a release about the store opening.

"We are proud of the work we’ve done caring for children in our community and we realize there is still work to do to help our children grow up healthy and strong," he said. "We’re ready for new challenges and opportunities because we have their support. The investment in us will improve the lives of children and families in our region."

In addition to the donation to Le Bonheur, the company will also crown a "The Container Store Super Fan" — fans of the brand can email the company about their love of organizational products to be entered for a chance to win — who will get a gift card and goodie box.

Everyone who visits the store opening weekend will also have the chance to win additional prizes given out every hour, including $1,000 toward a closet makeover. And all shoppers can get a free cup of coffee courtesy of local roaster Ugly Mug Coffee.

The Germantown location will feature "thousands of multi-functional and innovative storage and organization products" according to the company, but a highlight will be a full range of custom design options for walk-in closets, which employees can help customers tweak to suit their individual needs and available space.

The Container Store has 93 locations across the United States. The retailer has one additional Tennessee location in Nashville.

John Brown, general manager of The Container Store, said the company was looking forward to opening the Germantown location.

“The Container Store is excited to bring our custom closets and unique organization and storage solutions to the Mid-South,” he said. “Our team of experts in the Memphis area is ready to begin serving our customers and becoming an active part of the community.”
