THE MEMPHIS METAMORPHOSIS: A NEW GENERATION OF SOUL
A curious thing has happened in Memphis over the last few years. As Nashville has reached its peak and turned into an all-out bubble of both tourist and investment insanity, Memphis has quietly stepped up to bat as the true icon of Tennessee with an unmistakable identity. And with the Memphis bicentennial upon us—indeed, the Bluff City turns 200 years old today!—there’s never been a better time to celebrate her metamorphosis as she emerges from her cocoon a full-blown butterfly of cultural integration. I looked around, saw a crowded parking lot at Hopdoddy, and it looked inviting.
