Outdoor movies return to Overton Square

For the second year, Overton Square will screen free family-friendly movies on an outdoor screen.

The weekly Thursday series begins April 11 with the 1995 film "Jumanji" and concludes June 13 with "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

Launched last year, the movie program is a way for Overton Square overseers to attract families and "activate" the courtyard on the south side of the Midtown food, entertainment and retail district at Madison and Cooper.

The movies are shown on a 16-foot-wide pull-down screen that has been installed inside the stage in the "Chimes Square" courtyard, named for its signature wind chimes-bedecked bell tower.

Movies will screen at 8 p.m. on Thursdays. Coolers and alcohol are prohibited, but people can bring take-out food. For seating, people are invited to bring chairs and blankets.
