The Memphian Hotel Embodies Memphis Style

The Memphian, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel has debuted at Overton Square in Midtown Memphis. The new boutique hotel from Marriott is distinguished by artful details that serve to entice travelers and locals alike.

In addition to a curated retail space and a 24-hour fitness center, the Memphian is home to dual F&B options. Designed by Dryden Studio, the all-day concept Complicated Pilgrim evokes the casual grace of a neighborhood dive, while rooftop cocktail concept Tiger and Peacock was crafted by GCD Interiors to embrace its backdrop city views.

“The rooftop restaurant, Tiger and Peacock, is about Memphis style,” says GCD founder and lead designer Glenny Cowles Bryant. “The palette is moody and compelling. It drops you into a fun night in this city and lets you experience the history of generations of Memphians and our collected layers. Items found and kept, the memories made and lived in, is all seen in the design here. It’s the entanglement between the excitement of the city and the soul of its people.”

Each of the 106 guestrooms, including nine suites, balance timeless architecture with cleverly layered furniture and accessories. Junior-style suites boast ample space thanks to a sitting area, while the king suite houses separate living and sleeping areas.
