Through its annual Pick Awards, Welcome to Memphis recognizes hospitality workers for outstanding service. The awards are being restructured in the wake of the pandemic.

The Memphis Medical Society (MMS) has launched a campaign to support the pandemic-stressed restaurant industry.

When dining out, Erica Stiff-Coopwood and Dr. Reginald Coopwood enjoy the restaurants of Andrew Ticer and Michael Hudman, Ruth's Chris Steak House, and Mahogany. But, mostly, they said, they cook at home.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A local group announced new funding that will help provide financial assistance to qualified hospitality workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Pay It Forward MidSouth campaign has raised thousands of dollars to help workers in need and there is still time for you to help or apply.

All donations to the Mid-South COVID-19 Regional Response Fund through the end of January will go directly for the relief of hospitality and service industry workers. As part of the Pay It Forward Mid-South campaign, the funds will go to those workers who lose wages or employment as a result of restrictions imposed by the Health Department.

As the hospitality industry prepares to suffer more losses as tighter restrictions begin Saturday, Dec. 26, Dr. Reginald Coopwood and his wife, Erica, announced a new “pay it forward” fund Tuesday, Dec. 22, to help them and other service industry employees.
