Carpenter Art Garden Bike Shop brings the residents of Binghampton a biking program that offers more than just two wheels. Founded a little over 2 years ago, The Carpenter Art Garden received a grant from the Plough Foundation to purchase and renovate a Binghampton home. That home is now Carpenter Art Garden Bike Shop. Located at 296 Carpenter Street, Carpenter Art Garden Bike shop is teaming up with Pedaltown Bicycle Company to kick their program into full gear by adopting a bicycle trade-in feature.
“It was started because of demand. Following the story of Donte and his new bicycle, which was purchased from selling the Grizz Hearts you see throughout Memphis, we started to get feedback from the neighborhood. Bikes are simple. They are a teaching tool, they are tools that involve learning together, and it’s a tool that once completed can transport you. The bicycle serves as a symbol NOT to get residents out (or ride away) of Binghampton, but a symbol to bring them together and showcase the talent in Binghampton,” explains Clark Butcher, owner of Pedaltown Bicycle Company and board member of Carpenter Art Garden.

The Week Ahead: April 23-29
Good morning, Memphis. There’s no better way to start off your week than hearing the beautiful sounds of a world famous boys’ choir from London inside a historic Memphis church Downtown. And the concert is free!
For those with a sweet tooth, Muddy’s Bake Shop is hosting a tour and tasting at its Broad Avenue baking kitchen, at 2497 Broad Ave., on Friday. The tour – set for 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. – offers a peek behind the curtain at how the sweet treats empire produces its desserts. The tours are open to the public and happen once a month at the Broad Avenue kitchen, giving the public a chance to watch the baking team create cupcakes, pies and more.

The East Buntyn Art Walk Presents Classic Art Work
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - It was a beautiful day Saturday for the East Buntyn Art Walk.
The event hosted 100 artists showing their work of paintings, photography, woodworking, and more.
Hands-on activities were available for kids, and the event included a collage dance collective and an art market on Bingham.

Overton Square launches free outdoor movie series
As part of an effort to attract families and "activate" its courtyard, Overton Square next week will launch a free series of outdoor movies, from vintage black-and-white classics ("Casablanca") to recent rainbow-splashed hits ("Finding Dory").
The movies will be shown on a 16-foot-wide pull-down screen that has been installed inside the stage on the west end of the courtyard behind the main Overton Square complex of connected businesses and restaurants on Madison Avenue. For seating, people are invited to bring chairs and blankets.

Like it or not, Memphis liquor stores ramp up for Sunday wine sales
Some Memphis-area liquor stores on Friday started scrambling their work schedules after Gov. Bill Haslam signed a law allowing Sunday liquor sales.
Others pressed the pause button.
“We’re making the personal decision to wait until July to open,'' said Britton Long, assistant manager of Buster's Liquors & Wines in East Memphis. The wait allows the store's 43 employees to "psychologically prepare'' for working on Sundays, he said.

Overton Square has announced a free new Movie Nights series in their courtyard on Thursday evenings featuring their new outdoor screen with state-of-the-art surround sound.
Movie Nights kick off with a special Chimes Square Naming Party & Movie on Thursday, April 26th. They’ll be giving away three sets of handmade wind chimes from Woodstock Chimes and movie tickets from Malco Theatres, Inc. You’ll be able to enter to win a set of Malco tickets and movie-themed Woodstock wind chimes at every Movie Night. You can also order ahead and pick up dinner for your whole group from one of the Overton Square restaurants to eat in the courtyard.

I drove by the new Hattie B’s Hot Chicken on Cooper three times yesterday. At 11:30, early in the lunch hour, and at 1:30, late in the lunch hour, and even at 3:30, a culinary no-man’s land: The line spilled out the door and down to the street. Two hours later, early dinner time, my wife saw the same on her way home from work.
