Event Recap: Vintage 901 Fest

At Mahaffey, we love providing the very best tableware options at events throughout the Mid-South. Earlier this month, we helped out with Vintage901 Fest, benefitting the Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis.

We were honored to help out with the Perfect Pairings Dinner, which took place on the second day of this three-day long festival at Memphis College of Art, where guests experienced a four-course dinner by award-winning Chef Kelly English of Iris Etc. Guests dined with our white Oxford dinner and salad plates, as well as our dinner knives and salad forks

Cuisine, wine, retiring pianist, reborn building, Mr. Lenti turns 100, CBHS is cookin'!

Cuisine, wine, retiring pianist, reborn building, Mr. Lenti turns 100, CBHS is cookin'!

I have a dream of working in a kitchen under the guidance of a great chef like Kelly English, owner of Restaurant Iris and Second Line. It would be great to really learn how to cook. It might not be so much fun for the chef, though. People usually have to tell me how to do things many times before I finally get it. I like to call it “reiteration.”

Stephanie Ferreira had a dream that had to do with fine dining and wine. Her wish came true. Ferreira, Belinda Anderson, Deirdre Malone and Bonnie Pinkston hosted their second Vintage901 - three days of “wine, food and community” to benefit the Women’s Foundation, Anderson said.

The Grand Tasting at Vintage901

The Grand Tasting at Vintage901

I’ve been out of the country a handful of times to Asia and to Europe, and South America is definitely on my list next! It’s always been an unforgettable experience, but sometimes it’s nice when the foreign countries come to you and you can avoid the hours of traveling. We were offered that opportunity when we found out about an event called Vintage901 that was held this past weekend!

This was the second year for Vintage901, which is a three-day festival that holds various events at different locations throughout the weekend. My girlfriend and I were only able to make it to the Grand Tasting that was hosted on Friday at Crosstown Concourse in the Crosstown Arts gallery, and when you’re offering me unlimited anything, I’m always game. I’m not particularly a big wine connoisseur, but I’ll drink just about anything if I’m being totally honest. The main draw was that there would be over seventy wines offered from eight different countries! It was a great opportunity to be exposed to all of the different kinds of wine that I like and ones not so much.

If you love wine, food, and good company, you need to put Vintage 901 on your calendar!

In its second year, Vintage 901 is a 3-day wine, food, and music experience that is not to be missed.

I sat down with Vintage 901 organizer Stephanie Ferreira to learn more about this event.

“What guests will experience when they attend this event is 3 different days with 3 different venues and 3 different experiences.  On Friday March 2, we will be at the Crosstown Concourse and that will be the Grand Tasting event, which is a more casual fun event where people can circulate and mix and mingle.  You have Saturday – which is a little bit more formal event. It is at the Memphis College of Art and we will have our pairings dinner with our somm Laurie Forster and the dinner will be prepared by Chef Kelly English of the Restaurant Iris. And on Sunday, we will be at Shelby Farms at the FedEx event center, out there on the lake, and we will have a Sparkling Brunch and that brunch will be prepared by Chef Jimmy Gentry.”
