The Beifuss File: Historic pub crawl's hangover lingers

But never have such terms as lit, loaded, crocked, high, hammered, flushed, juiced, plastered, potted, polluted, stewed, sloshed, soused, tanked, totaled, trashed and wasted been as relevant as during the era of the traveling bacchanalia formally known to a few as the St. Patrick's Day Marching Ensemble and Pub Crawl and generally known to most as, simply, "the pub crawl."

Chick-fil-a Bluff City Field Day Benefits At-Risk Youth In Mid-South

Kids and kids at heart are excited for Saturday's second Chick-fil-a Bluff City Field Day in Overton Square.

However, seeing who will benefit from the fundraiser makes the day about more than fun and games.

Proceeds from the Field Day will help two local non-profits fulfill their missions to help at-risk youth.

One such former youth is Rodney Walker. Now an adult Walker is a part-time employee at Memphis Athletic Ministries and a mentor to the kids that attend MAM.

"I see myself in some of the kids," Walker said. "Motivate them to become a better person than I was at their age and try to help them make better decisions in life."

Walker is not done being mentored himself, which is where another non-profit comes in.
